The last day in New Zealand

On the last day I went to see the rugby match. The match was between the All Blacks and the Heartland XV. After an exciting match the All Blacks won. Rugby is the biggest sport in New Zealand but for children, football is the most popular sport. Cricket and netball is also other popular sports. Mark Todd is a famous person in New Zealand; he is one of the best horse riders in the world and has won many trophies. On my way back to the airport I stopped at a nearby shop to buy some food and maybe some souvenirs I could bring home. My eyes quickly fell on a big New Zealand-flag. It was so nice and the border was golden, I just had to buy it. The British flag (Union Jack) is on the left upper corner, the rest of the flag is blue with four stars. The four red stars symbolises the southern cross, which is a star sign on the celestial sphere.

When I woke up I felt ready for an exciting day at the sea. First I ate a nice breakfast containing of many different fruits and cereal. After the breakfast I went down to the port where the boat was waiting. After 10 minutes driving we arrived over a famous coral reef. I got my diving equipment on and was ready to dive down. It was very exciting; there was not only a coral reef down there but also mange fishes. I took this amazing picture:

After that we went back to the port where we changed boat and went to another location. Now it was time to see some sharks

Every year many people in New Zealand are killed by sharks, but it isn’t only sharks you should be afraid of when swimming in the ocean around New Zealand. The Chironex Fleckeri is the worlds most deadly animal. It is a cube jellyfish and its poison is about 100 times more deadly than a Cobra. If you touch its tentacles you are in big trouble.

Back on land I decided to just take a walk in the city and have fun, but suddenly I saw this big advertisement about a big rugby match that was about to be played tomorrow. I ordered a ticket and went back to the hotel where a nice dinner waited me.

The first day in New Zealand

Finally I arrived at the airport in Auckland after a day of travelling. First the flight went to Amsterdam, then from Amsterdam to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Auckland. Now I am at the hotel, waiting to fall asleep. Tomorrow I will relax and try to get rid of the jetlag. The time zone in New Zealand is UTC+12, which means it is 12 hours before the standard time. The next day I took the bus from Auckland to Wellington. Wellington is the capital in New Zealand but Auckland is bigger. On the road I saw many strange animals that I had never seen before, first some sea lions at the coast and then some Albatrosses. I sat beside a local fisherman that told me a lot about New Zealand. I learned that the first residents settled down on the islands about year 900 after Christ. These people later developed the Maori-culture. The first Europeans came to New Zealand in year 1642 and were from the Netherlands. About 200 years later the country became a British colony and first in 1908 England declared it as an independent country. When I arrived at the bus station in Wellington I was so tired and exhausted that I had to go to sleep.

I think blood diamond was a very good film. The plot was very nice and the story was amazing. I liked how the producer showed us how the situation was in sierra leone in a few years ago. I also think the actors did a very good job and that the story ended happily for Solomon and his family after what they had been through.
